Please be aware that scammers posing as the Maryland SPCA and other shelters are calling people who have lost their pets.
They are claiming their pet has been found in critical condition and needs emergency surgery. They are asking for money via a variety of payment apps. The MD SPCA does not solicit payment over the phone for emergency surgery for pets at any time. If you receive a call like this, hang up and call the police.
