Wilma

Sweet young Wilma arrived at the MD SPCA with a severely injured leg, a bruised head, and bloody ears.

Our exam team cleaned her up and tended to her injuries. They started her on pain medication, antibiotics, and took x-rays.

After consulting with Skylos Sports Medicine, it was concluded that Wilma’s injured leg had multiple fractures, some of which were already healing wrong. Wima’s leg would be lame and painful forever. The MD SPCA team elected to amputate the leg and give Wilma a pain-free life.

Wilma recovered from her surgery in a loving foster home in less than one month with no complications. One week after being medically cleared, Wilma found a loving adopter.

“Thank you for letting me bring home the little love bug our family was missing,” her adopter says. “Even the cat shares her old recliner with [her]! She was meant to be here. ❤️”
