Adoptions

Every pet in our care deserves a loving home. Let us find you a life-long match.

Foster

Last year, over a thousand pets who were sick, injured, or too young to be adopted required the love and extra care of a temporary home. Do you want to be a foster parent?

Helping You Keep Your Pet

Are you in a crisis and considering giving up your pet? We want to help you keep your pet.

Watch: Force-Free Training at the MD SPCA

Our Training Philosophy

The Maryland SPCA uses force-free training methods. That means training without pain, intimidation, threats, force, or coercion.

Behavior & Training

Behavior and training experts assess every pet admitted to our shelter. We make sure the pet is safe to have around people and other pets. Experts also identify behavior challenges and create customized training plans. Finally, we develop personality profiles so adopters can find the right match.

No Time Limits

There’s no time limit on how long a pet can stay with us. Last year, our team of dedicated, compassionate staff and volunteers provided care and enrichment for 3,420 dogs and cats until they found their forever homes.
