Young, fun Pool Party came to MD SPCA from another shelter in need of hip surgery. We’re unsure how she came to need this surgery. The femoral head ostectomy (FHO) procedure removes the head of the hip joint and neck of the femur to eliminate the bone-on-bone contact of the hip.
Pool Party’s surgery went well. She needed a slow steady increase towards normal activity. It was a bit tricky for her loving foster because PoolParty loves to play! They said “Pool Party isn’t suitable for someone looking for a cat who likes to lay around and cuddle. She sometimes sleeps on my bed with me, she loves laying on my lap in the recliner, however this cat is a more active playtime cat. After a few minutes of petting, she is likely to give a light nibble cause she’s wanting to play with your hand like a toy as opposed to be pet for example.
After her final checkup, Pool Party was cleared for adoption and brought back to the shelter. It was there that her party-animal purrsonality captured the heart of an MD SPCA animal care staff member. They adopted the playful girl and give her lots and lots of toys!
Her adopter says, “She is doing well and are best friends with the resident cat! They play together nonstop, take turns grooming and sleep next to each other.”
