The Maryland SPCA is proud to announce that animal advocate Lisa Radov has won our William Woodward Award. Her advocacy has changed countless pets’ lives and inspired Marylanders to get involved in animal welfare.
Lisa is the president of Maryland Votes for Animals, which advocates for humane legislation to improve animals’ lives in Maryland.
She’s been a driving force behind major laws and policies including:
- The Maryland Spay/Neuter Fund, which helps animal welfare groups (like the MD SPCA) provide free spay/neuter surgery to low-income families.
- Making animal killing contests illegal.
- Making animal sexual abuse a felony.
Lisa’s dedication, love for animals, and ability to connect with legislators and community members are extraordinary. By working in local communities, including as an MD SPCA volunteer, she’s able to bridge the concerns of people on the ground with those of policymakers in Annapolis.
The William Woodward Award was created in 2019 to mark 150 years of the MD SPCA caring for pets and people. Woodward, our founder, led a small group of Baltimoreans in successfully advocating to end abuse of workhorses.
