On April 9, Stanley was found loose in the parking lot by MD SPCA volunteers and staff. Everyone was surprised that he walked right up for head scratches and was not nervous at all. In his exam, he was diagnosed with Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) and tested positive for Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). He was an angel during his stay at the shelter and quickly became a staff favorite.
He was placed on a prescription diet, given medication for pain and the infection, and went to a very attentive foster home who gave him lots of love until he was cleared for adoption. His ideal adopter would give him regular veterinary visits to monitor this condition.
Despite his snazzy appearance and purr-sonality, Stanley had trouble getting attention from potential adopters. But with one TV appearance in his finest necktie, he caught the eye of someone very special. She was only interested in adopting FIV+ cats and knew she could be attentive to Stanley’s litterbox status. Everyone was thrilled to hear an update that he fit right into the home and was the purr-happy cuddle-bug we all love.
