The Maryland SPCA advocates spaying and neutering of all pets to combat the tragic overpopulation situation. To this end, all cats and dogs adopted from the SPCA are spayed or neutered before they are released to their new owners.
Altering dogs and cats can dramatically reduce the risk of developing certain types of cancers. Additionally, altered dogs and cats are less likely to wander and become lost while searching for a mate, and are less likely to bite or become aggressive. These are all great reasons to spay or neuter your pet while helping to reduce the tragedy of pet overpopulation.
